A well designed Last Will is an important part of life planning for individuals and couples. Without a properly executed Last Will, the distribution of real and personal property of New Jersey residents is controlled by the laws of the the State of New Jersey and not by your wishes and directions.
Please contact this office if you require a consultation regarding your Last Will and estate planning at no charge.
PROBATE - SETTLEMENT OF ESTATES
APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTORS OR ADMINISTRATORS
Settlement
When a resident of New Jersey dies, the Last Will and certain well established rules of NJ law determine how the Last Will should be settled (or State law followed if there is no Will) and the real and personal property distributed.
Banks, Life Insurance and Real Estate
It is usually the responsibility of the Executor of Administrator to settle the bank accounts, accounts at other financial institutions, life insurance, as well as any real estate.
Estate Tax
The Executor or Administrator of the Estate must determine whether Estate tax returns must be filed and is responsible for filing the tax returns, when required.
At your request, we will provide an initial consultation and analysis of estate tax obligations at no charge. |
